Heute Osram Sylvania, eine nordamerikanische Beleuchtung Hersteller, angekündigt dass es kommerziell produzieren ihre Ultra A-Linie LED Glühbirne, ein 12 Watt-LED entwickelt, um eine 60-Watt-Glühbirne ersetzen. Millionen 60-Watt-Glühbirnen derzeit jedes Jahr verkauft, sondern nach dem Energy Independence and Security Act von 2007, diese Glühbirnen müssen durch abgeschafft werden 2014. Sylvania hofft, dass seine Ultra A-Line Glühbirne wird diese Lücke zu füllen LED. Das Unternehmen plant, seine LED Glühbirne durch Lowe's verkaufen, einen großen Baumarkt-Kette.

Wie eine 60-Watt-Glühbirne, Ultra A-Line LED Glühbirne abgibt 810 Lumen, aber anstelle von 60 Watt zu erzeugen diese Energie, Ultra A-Line Lampe nur verwendet 12 Watt. Sylvania ist nicht das einzige Unternehmen versucht, die Leere als Glühlampen zu füllen sind ausgelaufen. Phillips verkauft jetzt eine ähnliche LED-Lampe für einen Cent weniger als Sylvania Ultra A-Linie LED Glühbirne. Philips Glühbirne, genannt Ambient LED, verwendet 12 Watt gibt jedoch etwas weniger Licht als Sylvania. Es ist verfügbaren Home Depot. Beide Unternehmen bauen ihre Produktion, wie sie die Nachfrage nach LED-Lampen weiter steigen als Glühlampen aus dem Markt gedrängt zu erwarten.
