3M Solar Mirror Films for Solar Utility Applications
3M exhibited a new solar mirror film made from silver deposited on polymers at this year's Solar Power International conference. This solar mirror film is used for concentrated solar power (CSP) applications and reflects 94% of the sunlight, in comparison to aluminum and thick glass mirrors which reflect 88% and 92-93% of sunlight respectively. The Buildaroo News Team interviewed Dan, from 3M about their new solar mirror film product. Watch the video above to find out what he had to say.
Other advantages 3M's solar mirror film has over glass mirrors include: lighter in weight than glass, less costly, more durable and lead free. It also has a lot of flexibility in terms of design.
3M is working with Gossamer Space Frames in creating a complete CSP package using this product.
