Cooper Lighting: LED Lights With Single Point Source Make for Great Light Without Spottiness
Cooper lighting is one of multiple companies that manufacture energy efficient CFL and LED lights. Their CFL and LED lights are engineered to mimic halogen technology, but their LEDs are 75% more energy efficient than incandescents. The company claims a 50,000hr lifespan for their LED products. In addition, according to the company, what makes their lights better than their competitors is their single point source, which gives them a really nice white light. Some of the other companies might have LEDs that look kind of spotty, but since Cooper Lighting's lights come from one source, they giving a really nice distribution and color.

Scott: Cooper Lighting is based out of Peachtree City Georgia. Our LED products are the latest and greatest of what’s coming out on the market today. The great thing about LED lights is that they last 50 thousand hours. So if you had this light on every day for 6 hours a day, it’ll last you 23 years! This LED light only uses 13 watts of energy, but it is equivalent in light to a 65 watt incandescent, so you save 75% off your energy bill.
Tali: Now I see you have a few more displays here. Are these all the same lighting?
Scott: These two are the LED products. This one on the end is a dimming compact fluorescent, so you can go up to full brightness or down to 15%. This gives you some variability on lighting controls.
Tali: For people who don’t know about LED lights, what are the cost savings of using them?
Scott: By using this product, you’re saving 75% off of the cost of the electricity used by your lights. You’ll save 600 dollars per fixture, by switching over to LED.
Tali: What makes your LED lights different from the other LED lights other companies are selling?
Scott: We have some proprietary technology that’s in this product. Ours is a single point source, which gives us a really nice white light. Some of the other companies might have LEDs that look kind of spotty, but our lights comes from one source giving you really nice distribution and color.
Tali: Where are your products manufactured?
Scott: We are manufactured in the United States. This product in particular is manufactured in Alabama, but we’re all over. We have factories all over the country.
Tali: How does your distribution work?
Scott: We’re the manufacturer, so we manufacture the product and sell to select wholesalers or retailers. Those are our two channels to market; for the wholesale end, we really sell to electrical contractors who’ll do the work on homes, or commercial buildings.
Tali: Where would someone go to get your products?
Scott: If you’re a home owner, you would go to your local retail store, such as a Home Depot, Lowes, or hardware store. You can also go to any electrical retailer all over the country, to get our product.
Tali: As far as LEED credits, what kind of LEED credits do your products qualify for?
Scott: I’m not sure on the specific number of LEED credits, but it would qualify for LEED based on the energy savings you’re getting.
