Burj Dubai now the tallest building in the world - unfortunately not a huge green accomplishment

The Burj Dubai, now the tallest building in the world, stands at least 160 stories high and is now taller than the Taipei 101, previously the tallest building in the world. Although this building is a phenomenal architectural accomplishment, its green features are currently disappointing for such a massive structure. Some notable green features include: an 11-hectare green oasis surrounding the foot of the tower which will be irrigated using an innovative condensate collection system. Condensation from the building’s cooling equipment will be recovered providing an estimated 15 million gallons of water a year. Considering the luxuriousness of this building and its huge carbon footprint, we hope the future will bring greater implementation of green sustainable features.
