This has been met by quite an uproar from members of Californians for Smart Energy [Read More]
I think this uproar and the claims of job loss are a bit outrageous. When regulations came out mandating energy efficient appliances and water efficient faucets, companies had no choice but to modify their products to comply. Companies did not close shop, and they are not going to close shop over this. Most have already transitioned many of their TVs to be more energy efficient anyhow. This regulation will just give them the extra nudge they need to transition all their TVs into energy efficient ones. So I say, go California regulators. Although, I wish we didn't need government regulations to change behavior surrounding sustainability, it unfortunately seems that most companies need this regulatory kick in the butt.
