California Renewable Energy Project Proposals near 70GW
244 proposed renewable energy projects in California; include solar, wind, geothermal, biomass and hydro technologies
Renewable energy projects proposed in California total nearly 70 gigawatts, an amount that could help California meet its renewable energy goal of obtaining a third of its electricity by 2020 from clean power. The 244 proposed projects in the state include solar, wind, geothermal, biomass and hydro technologies, but in order to be built these proposed renewable energy projects need to pass permitting. Since many of these projects are attempting to break ground by the end of 2010 in order to qualify for federal stimulus money. Governor Schwarzenegger has signed an agreement with the U.S. Department of the Interior to speed up the permitting process for renewable energy projects seeking stimulus funds.
