Cisco EnergyWise allows for Energy Management of IT Systems

Many businesses that have purchased Cisco fixed switches that are still under a maintenance contract have reason to rejoice. The systems hardware/software manufacturer has announced the introduction of the EnergyWise Orchestrator platform. The reason the recent Cisco customers should be rejoicing is that they can download the software for free!

Cisco introduced its Borderless Networks platform last year. This innovative system puts network device energy management into the hands of the IT department. Managed energy increases efficiency through the centralization of control over power-over-ethernet (PoE) as well as PCs. The Cisco system has netted some customers immediate savings of as much as 30 percent on their energy bills.

It’s hard to keep everyone in the corporate loop happy when companies attempt to ‘go green’. However, companies that have invested in the Borderless Networks platform will see new Cisco hardware and software that will make the technology even more robust. This will translate into real dollar savings as well as enough energy efficiency to make even the ‘greenest’ company employee happy.
