Dell Looking Glass Tablet with Tegra 2 Processor - Will it challenge the iPad?
If Snow White went tablet shopping, would she buy an iPad or wait for the Dell Looking Glass tablet, rumored to be coming this November? Information leaked to engadget says that Dell is working on some 7- and 10-inch tablets larger than the Dell Streak 5 inch tablet , due out in September of 2010.
The leaked information claims that the Dell Looking Glass tablet will run the Android 2.1 on a Tegra 2 processor and is set to launch in November. Spec details include the ability to multitask, run Flash, utilize up to 4GB of RAM and an SD card slot for extra storage, a 1.3-megapixel camera, and an optional digital TV tuner for watching live TV.
The device is Dell's response to the Apple iPad. It marks an aggressive move by Dell into the tablet market, and may yet be the toughest competition the iPad will face.
Although Dell may not be known for the kind of innovation Apple unleashes, the $59 billion company’s size and outreach to the small, medium and large business market make it a manufacturer to be taken seriously as it jockeys for position in the expanding tablet arena. No matter how computer-savvy Snow White is, if her employer opts for Dell tablets for the entire staff, she and the seven dwarfs could end up being Streak users.
