Eco Stucco Introduces New Plaster that Can Be Used in Wet Areas

Eco Stucco is a manufacturer of sustainable, eco-friendly lime plasters. A sustainable alternative to cement plaster, acrylic plaster, and other high embodied CO2 coating products, eco stucco cures and hardens naturally by carbonation and without exhalation of toxic, hazardous gases.

We've interviewed Cyril from Eco Stucco before, and we've been very impressed with his products, but at this year's West Coast Green Cyril displayed a new lime plaster product that is even more unique in U.S. construction. This new plaster can be applied in wet areas, such as a shower or kitchen back splash, and is truly an artisan's product.

Although quite unique in the U.S, this product is derived from an age old Moroccan tradition called tadelakt, a Moroccan plaster that can be applied in wet areas. This plaster was the traditional coating of the palaces, hammams and bathrooms of the riads in Morocco! Its an alternative to tiles and stones, can be naturally sealed with black soap (a natural sealant made of olive oil and ashes), and has no grout lines that can allow for the growth of mold. When compared to any other plaster on the market, the only difference in installation is the polishing - it must be sleek and polished throughout to prevent any water intrusion.

This is a pretty awesome product. Check it out in the video above.
