Ezinc Solar - A Solar Water Heater That Does Not Need Direct Sunlight!
We interviewed Terry from Ezinc at the 2009 InterSolar Conference in San Francisco, CA. Ezinc has been in business for 26 years. Featured at the conference was a 46 gallon thermosiphon solar water heater system, which the company manufactures in Turkey. This thermosiphon system is a closed loop system with a heat exchange inside. Cold water comes into the reservoir, absorbs the heat inside and then comes out hot and ready to be used. This system is made of basic copper and aluminum extrusions with tempered glass. The tempered glass absorbs heat and is non-reflective, which allows heat to come into the system and get trapped inside. The system uses UV rays to heat up the water, so it does not need direct sunlight to be efficient. And according to Terry, the system is so efficient that after only 4 hours of sunlight a day, the water temperature can get up to 160-170 degrees Fahrenheit!
Ezinc has different size systems ranging in capacity between 80-120 gallons. It can be installed in most homes, and it is ideal for a family of 3 or 4. According to Terry, this product has been accepted all over the world.
