Galaxy Energy - Total Solar Roofs Replace Conventional Roofs

We interviewed Manfred from Galaxy Energy at the 2009 InterSolar Conference in San Francisco, CA.  Galaxy Energy is a German based company that manufactures solar modules, mounting systems, and total solar roofs, and they are planning on introducing a new product at the next solar show.  Galaxy Energy has a distribution center in Canada, which works with North and South America as well as Canada.  Though Galaxy Energy is new to the U.S. market, they are confident that  they will have a positive impact.

According to Masfred, roofing systems from Galaxy Energy can be built on existing roofs and can feature either blue modules, black modules, or transparent modules depending on the preference of the home owner.   In addition, the Galaxy Energy 'Total Solar Roof' is a leak proof system and is stronger than a conventional roof.  With this system the home owner doesn't need and rafters, plywood, or shingles.  Therefore this system can actually replace a conventional roof; in other words there is no need for another roof below!
