Kioto - Solar Thermal Efficient Even When Very Cloudy
We interviewed Gal and Marlin from Kioto at the 2009 InterSolar conference in San Francisco, CA. Kioto manufactures solar thermal collectors and currently produces 1.1 million square meters of these collectors. Their thermal panel is divided into 3 pieces: the housing, a grid of copper tubes, and a cover on top to absorb the heat. Kioto panels use direct light from the sun to generate heat. All they need is 1 hour of sun to get hot water, so they are even efficient if there are heavy clouds outside. The solar thermal panels Kioto manufactures have a 95% heat absorption rate. They can be used in both residential as well as commercial installations, and when used in residential projects, they can save 35% off your energy bill. In addition, these panels can heat up enough hot water for residential use within 30 minutes!
