LEDs 5x More Energy Efficient Even with Lifecycle Analysis, Study Finds

While it has been demonstrated that LED bulbs uses a fraction on the electricity on incandescent bulbs, until now it has been uncertain whether LEDs are really a more energy efficient alternative when you take into consideration the energy required to manufacture them - meaning does the manufacturing of LEDs require more energy than needed for the manufacturing of incandescent bulbs.

Well, you can now rest assured that LEDs really are more energy efficient than incandescents.  Study results show that over the entire life of the bulb — from manufacturing to disposal — the energy used for incandescent bulbs is almost five times that used for both compact fluorescents and LED lamps.
