Logical Homes: Pre-fab Homes are the Economical Way to Go!
We interviewed Peter from Logical Homes, a company based in Manhattan and specializing in producing prefabricated homes out of recycled shipping containers. This prefab method of building is partly a response to the economic downturn within the United States, since it can be a more affordable way to build homes. In addition, since the U.S is currently importing more than it is exporting there are a lot of shipping containers laying around the ports unused and just taking up space.
Inside their homes, Logical Homes uses sustainable building materials including denim insulation, low-flow toilets, Energy Star appliances, spray foam insulation and solar panels. All of their homes comply to U.S building codes,
and their prices start at $130/sq ft in comparison to standard home prices in Southern California that start at $400/sq foot.
Logical Homes is a relatively new company, and they have already done a lot. For instance, they are currently working on expanding their sales globally to countries such as Russia and France. In addition, they are currently working on a hotel project in Manhattan Beach called Bamboo, and they have also done a project with Red Bull.
