Ludowici Roof Tile
Our very own Tali was given a very informative interview with Alicia from Ludowici Roof Tile. Ludowici is a clay roof-tile company that has been around since the 1880's. Their products have always been green, and are just now being marketed that way. The product is sustainable, in that it does not contribute to landfill, or to waste streams. The product is created very locally. The tile is made up largely of recycled post-industrial material. The tiles take advantage of the heat-island effect, which heavily involves the SRI value of the tiles. The Solar Reflective Index value indicates how much solar energy is absorbed by the tile. Ludowici Tiles absorb solar energy, saving energy on heating and air conditioning. The roof-tiles come in a number of different colors, may of which qualify for LEED credits and other green benefits.
