North Carolina Bans Construction of Industrial Wind Turbines
The North Carolina state Senate passed a bill on August 7th that bans the construction of industrial wind turbines in the western region of the state. If approved by the House of Representatives, the law would eliminate two-thirds of the onshore wind resource in N.C. In the past, other counties in the U.S. have voted in favor of height limitations for wind turbines, but this is the first time a state legislature voted to ban turbines. The state legislature passed other bills increasing tax credits for different forms of renewable energy but banned large turbines because of their unappealing appearance.
