Panasonic Energy Efficient WhisperGreen Ventilation Fans really do Whisper
Although the importance of whole-house and single-room ventilation is often overlooked, proper ventilation is critical in maintaining a “healthy” house. Ventilation fans are the workhorses of these ventilation systems, so a line of products that is both highly energy efficient and quiet is of great interest to builders and homeowners. Panasonic’s expanded line of WhisperGreen products sparked that interest at the 2010 Pacific Coast Builders Conference (PCBC) held June 9 -11. Check out the products in the video below.
Daily living produces an excess of moisture that can lead to mold and mildew in the house. At the very worst, the moisture can build up to rot wood framing. Panasonic's WhisperGreen line of wall and ceiling ventilation fans are designed to meet the ASHRAE 62.2 ventilation standard. The combined use of continuously operating fans and “spot” fans in high moisture areas such as bathrooms and kitchens help to move moisture out of the building.
The Panasonic WhisperGreen products use energy-efficient DC motors in many of their products. These step-down motors reduce the fan’s electrical draw while the fan is running at the lower, continuous speeds. The DC motors draw only 5 watts to maintain air movement of 30 cubic feet per minute (cfm) compared to 60 watts for a conventional ventilation fan. Even at its highest speed, the Whisper Green technology only draws about 13 watts to generate 80 cfm.
The Whisper Green products are also the quietest ventilation fans on the market with noise ratings of a mere 0.3 to 0.8 sones. Considering that traditional ventilation fans roar along at about four to five sones, the Whisper Green products really do “whisper”.
Panasonic’s Whisper Green products meet and exceed many Green building standards including the EPA’s Indoor Air Plus Energy Star system, and the National Association of Home Builders Green Building Standard.

It is typically more evenpsixe for you to designate "green" power. It is a method to subsidize the building of more wind power, but in reality wind power is not any more "green" than nuclear power. The intermittent nature of wind power makes it necessary to have some sort of "backup" power, usually gas, wind uses much more concrete and steel than nuclear power for the same amount of megawatts. Wind power actually has a larger "footprint" than nuclear power, it takes more land to produce the same amount of power. We need to explore all the methods of producing power while minimizing the effect on the environment, this is one way of donating to that cause and voting with your $$.
