RainSpace Allows for New Innovative Underground RainWater Collection

Rainwater collection has become an exciting new topic, with many people interested in storing this resource and states coming up with various regulations around it. So far there are very few products out there for rainwater storage, and the most prominent until now has been Rainwater HOG. At this year's West Coast Green, we met up with another company debuting an innovative product for storing rainwater underground.

RainSpace, from Rain Technologies, the manufacturers of the well known RainTube, is an underground rainwater storage system that utilizes a collection of the company's RainTubes to provide for the product's structural strength. (Read about RainTube below). The tubes are constructed of a slightly different design to allow for the pressure and weight from above. These tubes are completely enclosed with a pond liner, and this creates an enclosed space perfect for collecting and storing rainwater. The system feeds off of your home's downspouts, and can connect to your home's piping and sprinkler systems.

Although RainSpace does require the work of excavation, it can be installed in very shallow locations. For example, the display at the show was a 5 foot excavation, where the RainSpace product took up 3 feet of space, and 2 feet was backfill. This design is so strong that it allows for cars or heavy trucks to be parked right on top of it, according to the company!

RainSpace stores a large amount of water. A 10'x10' ft system will hold 2500 gallons, a 10'x20' system (about the size of a single car driveway) will hold 5000 gallons, a 20'x20' system (which is the size of a 2 car driveway) will hold 10,000 gallons. This system is very inexpensive and easy to install, according to the company.

About RainTube:

RainTube is a tube that is placed in gutters to address the common problem of gutter clogs as a result of collected debris. RainTube sits in the hollow space where debris usually builds up. Raintube is porous, so water can flow through it and reach the downspouts at the end of the gutter. This product ensures that your gutter will remain unclogged and do its job for at least a year. Raintube is manufactured out of high density polyethylene, derived from recycled plastic.

Check out our video above where we interview the company about the features of both RainSpace and RainTube.

Right here is the right web site for anybody who would like to understand this
topic. You realize a whole lot its almost hard to argue with you (not that I
actually will need to…HaHa). You certainly put a new spin on a topic that has been discussed for a long time.
    Great stuff, just wonderful!
