Sacramento Gets $5M in Federal Funds for Energy Efficiency

Sacramento County has scored $5 million in federal economic stimulus funds through the U.S. Department of Energy, Congresswoman Doris Matsui’s office announced Tuesday.

The funds, part of an Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant, will help the county adopt energy audits, develop advanced building codes and inspections, and create financial incentive programs for energy-efficiency improvements.

The award is part of a $2.7 billion grant program being awarded to more than 2,300 cities, counties, states and Indian tribes across the country.
