Samsung NaviBot Robot Vacuum SR8845 & SR8855 versus the Roomba
Comparison of the Samsung Navibot SR8845 & SR8855 and the Roomba robotic carpet vacuum cleaners
The iRobot Roomba - Samsung Navibot challenge
The audience is humming with excitement. The referee steps to the center of a living room carpet liberally dotted with coffee grounds, cat hair and other small debris. He announces the contenders in today’s battle. “In this corner with nine models, we have the current champion, Roomba made by iRobot. The challenger is the Samsung NaviBot!” The robots whirr to where the referee stands. “Ok, boys, let’s keep this fight clean!” The referee steps back and the disc-shaped robotic vacuum cleaners get to work, moving up and down the carpet, sucking up all that dirt. Which robotic vacuum cleaner will emerge the winner?
Although this scene is wholly imagined, the competition for the home cleaning market between the iRobot Roomba and the Samsung NaviBot is real. Samsung has announced it will introduce its two NaviBot products this spring, the NaviBot SR8845 and the Navibot SR8855, ranging in price from $599 (£399) to $674 (£449).
Once considered little more than high-tech gadgets, robotic vacuum cleaners have proven to be efficient tools for regular light cleaning jobs. Reliable and convenient, they are also energy efficient running on rechargeable batteries. The Samsung NaviBot line will include features such as touch pad controls and remote scheduling, not currently available with the Roomba models.
