Scotland plans another off-shore wave energy project

Wave energy seems to be Scotland’s passion. Scotland-based energy developer Pelamis just signed a joint venture agreement with the European energy giant Vattenfall for an almost $100 million energy project off Scotland’s Shetland Islands. This follows the recent launch of Oyster, reportedly the largest working hydro-electric wave energy device in the world, by the Scottish government and partners.  The first phase of the project is planned to go live in 2014.  With this project and other like it, Scotland is planning to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 42% by 2020.
