Siemens Solar Products - Increase Your Efficiency and Power Conservation

We interviewed Peter from Siemens at the 2009 InterSolar Conference in San Francisco, CA. Siemens focuses on electrical and automation products utilizing solar power technology. They specialize in CSP (Concentrated Solar Power) and PV (Photovoltaic) systems.

Siemens works with companies to increase efficiency and power conservation, and they are trying to use their products in creating solutions for the solar industry. For example, glass is used in a lot of solar applications, a lot of times as a cover for a solar cell. Siemens is working with glass companies to optimize their processes using Siemens products and solutions.

One Siemens product that Peter spoke about was the Siemens reactor used in polysilicon manufacturing. Siemens developed this reactor in 1954, and it has since then been used to mass produce polycrystalline silicon. Siemens also produces electrical solutions, transformers, switch gear, inverters, solar tracking gear boxes and motor systems, and they provide turn key solutions for PV panels.
