SMA Sunny Central 800CP solar inverter
SMA America, a leading manufacturer of solar photovoltaic inverters, has released its Sunny Central Compact Power (CP) line of utility-scale solar inverters to the North American market. This line is outdoor-rated and includes the Sunny Central 500CP, 630CP, 720CP, 760CP and 800CP, which won the 2010 Intersolar Award for photovoltaics. The Sunny Central CP line of solar inverters join SMA's already released utility-scale Sunny Central High Efficiency (HE) solar inverter line.
The SMA Sunny Central CP solar inverters have industry-leading power output and efficiencies of 98.6 and 98.7 (630CP) percent. In addition to being outdoor-rated, the SMA Sunny Central CP solar inverters have a compact design that allows for easy load and transport as well as the capability to be installed almost anywhere, allowing integrators a variety of configuration options. To further simplify utility-scale installations, two Sunny Central CP solar inverters can be combined with one medium voltage transformer to provide up to 1.6MW of power.
The Sunny Central CP solar inverter has a weatherproof enclosure that protects against chemical-aggressive environments and a partition to shield sensitive electronics from dust and debris. The two partitioned sections are cooled by direct ventilation and a heat exchanger using SMA’s patented OptiCool active temperature-management system, which allows the Sunny Central CP solar inverters to maintain full power in temperatures up to 122 F. In temperatures below 77 F, the Sunny Central CP solar inverters have a peak continuous power that is 110 percent of rated output, resulting in increased yields and a lower levelized cost of energy.
Sunny Central CP solar inverters are grid friendly and provide integrated grid management features such as remote control of active and reactive power, automatic over-frequency response, automatic power factor adjustment, power curtailment, and low voltage ride through. In addition, the systems ensure optimum communication and control through SCADA options via modbus and the SMA OPC Server.
Also included in SMA's Sunny Central CP solar inverter line is SMA’s intuitive Optiprotect technology. This cost-reducing feature monitors up to 1,600 individual strings for potential failures while differentiating between extended and temporary disturbances.
Currently available for order through SMA America, the Sunny Central CP solar inverters come with a 99% uptime guarantee and optional extended warranties up to 20 years.
