Solar Thermal Companies Offering Turn-Key Power Solutions
Last Thursday, eSolar announced a partnership with power plant developer Ferrostaal to offer a "soup-to-nuts" utility-scale power plant turn-key solution based on solar thermal technology. Partnerships such as this, between companies like eSolar, developers of solar power plants that reflect sunlight onto water towers to produce steam which then gets converted into electricity, with utility plant contractors like Ferrostall, are becoming more and more common as utility companies around the world transition to using more renewable energy-based power generation.
Solar thermal field technologies pioneered by eSolar utilize computer controlled heliostats to keep solar collectors trained on central water towers, producing a clean source of steam to rotate the turbines and generate electricity. The partnership of eSolar's technology with Ferrostaal's experience in power plant construction means that solar thermal plants can be designed, built and implemented in a timely and profitable manner.
