As part of its “Shine, baby, shine!” campaign featuring former “Dallas” star Larry Hagman, SolarWorld today launched a contest to award a free, installed Sunkits residential solar system to the eligible U.S. resident who submits a video that makes the biggest splash in calling on Americans to “Shine, baby, shine!” by going solar.

In the contest running from today through Nov. 1, SolarWorld will give away a 2-kilowatt Sunkits solar power system valued at more than $12,000, featuring eight high-performance Sunmodule solar panels, an inverter, racking and conduit as well as complete system installation.

“By embracing high-quality solar technology made by American workers on U.S. soil, we can take heart in improving our energy, environmental and economic heading. In applauding Americans who share their solar inspiration in this contest, we also can spread the cheer,” said Kevin Kilkelly, president of U.S. sales for SolarWorld.

Participants aged 18 or older from the 48 contiguous states excluding New York and Florida may submit videos of 60 seconds or less in which they explain why they want to go solar and recite the “Shine, baby, shine!” slogan. Videos will appear on www.SolarWorld-USA.com/Shine , where interested individuals can also go to get contest details. Voters will use Facebook “Likes” to weigh in on the best entries until noon (PDT) Nov. 1. The winner will be announced by noon (PST) Nov. 15.

Aside from the grand-prize winner, the next nine contest finishers will win a $1,000 credit toward a Sunkits solar power system and a backpack featuring solar power to charge electronic devices.

Hi there,Engineering wouldn't be a bad field for simotheng like alternative energy. I know that's kind of general, but maybe there is simotheng else specifically within engineering, that may cater to solar energy, wind energy, wave energy, etc..I guess it really depends in the school you are in, and what kind of variety with the majors that they offer.

Solar water heater absorbs energy from the sun and converts it into heat energy. They have very important advantage: vacuum isolation. This is perfect solution for ambient low temperature. Vacuum Technology provides a very low heat losses and allow to gain heat energy, even during winter season.
High quality materials ensure long lifetime and significantly raises the resistance level into mechanical damage and hail. Solar water heater is a perfect solution to heat up water for daily using. This solution allow for substantial cost reduction of water heating.
