Soltech Energy Glass Roof Tiles offer Energy Efficient Innovative Home Heating
SolTech Energy Glass Roof Tiles trap air, heat it using the sun and distribute it throughout your home
Thanks to the Swedish company SolTech Energy, heating your home with clean solar power is as easy as installing glass roof tiles. These glass roof tiles are an energy efficient way to heat your home as they are designed to trap air, heat it using the sun and distribute it throughout your home. Consumers hoping to reduce the Home Energy Rating (HERS) index for future or existing buildings can drastically cut heating cost when using the SolTech Energy glass roof tiles.
By trapping clean air between layers of black nylon canvas installed under the glass roof tiles, the SolTech Energy System is able to use the reflectivity of black canvas to circulate the air around a water reservoir which is then used for heating the entire home, even during dark winter days and after the sun goes down. The SolTech System is designed to be integrated with the existing house’s energy solution, whether it is a ground source heat pump, air heat pump, pellet boiler, oil boiler or electric boiler.
SolTech glass roof tiles have a longer life span than conventional roof tiles made of clay or concrete, since the glass is UV resistant and has a high resistance to erosion. A further positive feature of these glass roof tiles, shown in preliminary tests, is that in the winter, when snow falls on the roofs, the heat generated by the system will help keep the roof free of snow, hence generating more heat for the home. The SolTech system is also available as glass wall panels.
In addition to their heating performance, the SolTech Energy glass roof tiles are attractive and give the roof a fascinating icy appearance. In fact, SolTech received the "Hottest New Material 2010" gold medal award from the North Building Fair for the innovative glass roof tiles that can generate around 350 kW of heating per square meter.
As architects look for ways to build increasing closer to green building and passive house standards, focusing on energy from renewable resources instead of utility grids, solutions like the SolTech glass roof tiles can play an integral part in designing practical and beautiful green homes.
