SuRF DIY Smart Grid Open Source Toolkit Available April 2010

Thanks to a new open-source software and hardware tool kit from People Power Company, Internet savvy developers can now create their own personal 'smart grid' to set up, monitor and control custom designed energy saving systems online with their businesses, homes and rentals to insure they are as energy efficient as possible at all times. The innovative developer's kit is called SuRF for Sensor Ultra Radio Frequency. It uses the popular Open Source Home Area Network (OSHAN), comes with the software and two hardware boards, and is priced at $149.95.
When the toolkit is released in April 2010, it will have the capability to give consumers control over devices such as monitors, thermostats, security devices, pools and hot tubs. And that's just the beginning of what you can do with open source smart grid technology. Gene Wang, founder and CEO of People Power Company stated in the company's recent press release, "SuRF provides a perfect platform to build these new communicating devices with more than double the range at half the power. If you can dream it, you can now build it into your home. " It is ready for pre-order starting now, and contact the company for further details.
