UK Program to Reward Green Vehicle Purchases with up to £5,000
Sweet incentives will soon be available to UK individuals and businesses that purchase low-emission vehicles from 2011 to 2014. Whether the automobile runs on hydrogen-fuel or is battery powered or hybrid, it could be eligible to receive up to 25% off the purchase price -- provided it meets the required standards. Depending on the sticker cost, this could mean a savings of over £5,000, which is quite a hefty reason to drive green.
To qualify for the incentive program, vehicles must not emit more than 75 grams of CO2 per kilometer, be capable of reaching 60 miles per hour, have a three-year warranty and comply with all safety standards. Because of the strict requirements connected with the $350.4 million dollar giveaway program, the selection of current cars that qualify is limited to Tesla Roadsters and the smaller Mitsubishi i MiEV. Hopefully new cars will be produced to meet the criteria.
