UpSolar: Reduced Manufacturing Cost Means Increased Savings for You!

Ricky from buildaroo.com interviewed Zhe Jiang, CEO and Founder of UpSolar.  UpSolar is a Chinese vertically integrated PV panel manufacturer.   They have a unique total quality system, where UpSolar incorporates the French audit certification process provided by the Bureau of Audit Test.  In addition , UpSolar's vertically integrated system accommodates total quality control, since the company oversees all aspects of the PV manufacturing.  This vertically integrated system also means that UpSolar products are cheaper to manufacture, and UpSolar can pass these savings onto their consumers.

Although new to the United States, UpSolar has a significant history in the European market, where they have large scale distributors, system integrators, and project developers.   According to  Zhe Jiang, UpSolar has a proven track record within the market, and this track record has prompted utility companies within Italy, France, and soon Germany to establish partnerships with UpSolar.  UpSolar intends to establish the same brand recognition and respect within the U.S. market through taking similar steps.  As a matter of fact, in 2010, they plan to knock on the doors of utility companies in the U.S. in an attempt to establish partnerships. Very ambitious endeavors UpSolar!

Regarding UpSolar's corporate sustainability, Zhe Jiang mentioned that they have PV panels installed on the roofs of their manufacturing plant to supply power for the facilities.  In addition, the company tries to recycle as much as possible.  UpSolar currently has a U.S. presence in San Francisco, and they are also collaborating with U.S. partners on research projects.  Within 2-3 months, some of these project results and data will be made available to the public.
