With a Few Small Changes, We Can Affordably Cut US Carbon Emissions By 7.4%
Although it may sound silly, if these ideas are adopted en masse the US will benefit from an over 7% reduction in annual carbon emissions. The 7% is a pretty big deal and it's really a pretty huge reduction - we would be reducing carbon emissions by an amount equal to the annual emissions of the country of France. Most of these upgrades also have an excellent 3-5 year payback period (depending on the amount of heating/cooling you use and the amount of miles you drive), and there are a lot of financing options available from federal, state and local governments to help defray the up-front costs.
And remember, you don't have to upgrade everything all at once. Starting with the low hanging fruit and working up from there is definitely the way to go for most people.
